Prepared for Battle: Growing Through Trials
Jeremiah 12:5a
If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?
God is not interested in raising an army that can only face petty little small stuff; He is looking to raise an exceeding great and mighty army, filled with giant slayers! Why is it, oh child of God, that you find yourself continually being stretched to the max in every area of your life? It could very well be that He is putting within you a strength that’s greater than yourself, to make you one that can contend not only with footmen, but with horses and chariots! Proverbs 24:10 says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” God knows our breaking point, and so He continually brings us to that point so that at last we become capable of placing our fullest faith and confidence in Him and Him alone!
You may be in obscurity today, but the day can come when people will know you, not for who you are, but for what you have allowed God to do in your life! He can become your identity! When I personally observe those whom I know to be giant slayers for Christ, it is not the human spirit with which I am so impressed, but the sheer might and power of God that flows through such individuals! And so it ought to be! Men ought to be able to look at us and see God working in us, resting upon us, and flowing through us. Our enemy is not afraid of us, but it is He who is in us that our enemy fears the most, because greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world!
This is why the enemy fights you so hard in your mind and in your spirit, trying to keep you doubting, worried, troubled, and paralyzed with fear. He knows if he can just keep you wrapped up in your fears, then you will never tap into that faith which can ultimately become his ruin through the power of Christ living in you! Next time you feel like you’re under attack, count it all joy, for it is a test which has been allowed by God to strengthen your faith and to help you become a mighty man of valor for Christ! He has a job for you, and He is training you for your future!
