Overview
Luke 3 introduces the fiery ministry of John the Baptist, who emerges as the voice in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Messiah. His preaching focuses on repentance, and he baptizes the people, calling them to bear fruits worthy of repentance. Herod Antipas eventually imprisons him for his bold condemnation of Herod's sinful ways. This chapter also describes the baptism of Jesus by John, with the heavens opening, the Holy Spirit descending in a bodily shape like a dove, and a voice from heaven declaring Jesus as God's beloved Son. Furthermore, Luke 3 concludes with the genealogy of Jesus, tracing His lineage through David and Abraham, all the way back to Adam, showing Jesus as the Son of God. This account emphasizes Jesus's unique role as the Savior of all humanity.
