The Spirit and Faith

  • Genesis 15:6  And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

  • Insight: Genesis 15:6 highlights a foundational truth of Scripture: Abraham’s faith in God’s promise was credited to him as righteousness. This faith was not based on what he could see or accomplish but on his trust in God’s character and Word. The Holy Spirit works in us today to cultivate the same faith, teaching us to rely on God’s promises even when circumstances seem uncertain.

Faith is not merely an intellectual agreement but a deep trust in God that transforms our lives. The Spirit reveals God’s faithfulness and empowers us to walk in confidence, trusting that He will fulfill what He has promised. Just as Abraham’s faith connected him to God’s righteousness, our faith, shaped by the Spirit, connects us to the finished work of Christ.

  • Prayer: Thank God for the gift of faith and for the Holy Spirit, who teaches us to trust in His promises. Praise Him for the example of Abraham, whose faith was counted as righteousness. Ask the Spirit to strengthen your faith, especially in times of uncertainty, and to guide you in walking confidently in God’s Word and promises.
